Erbium YAG Laser Procedure in Central Texas

Erbium YAG is a fully ablative and customizable skin resurfacing laser treatment. The Erbium YAG laser stimulates collagen formation in photoaged skin for the treatment of common skin concerns such as fine lines, scarring, skin texture and hyperpigmentation.

Erbium YAG Laser Resurfacing

Unlike a CO2 laser, the Erbium YAG laser is a gentler approach to the skin and is a more superficial resurfacing tool than a CO2 laser. Because water is such a critical component in the epidermal and dermal tissue, the 2940 nm wavelength produced by Erbium YAG lasers is capable of rapidly vaporizing water residing in the outer layers of the skin. This unique wavelength delivers an almost instant skin ablation while limiting heat damage in the surrounding area. The Erbium YAG laser is capable of achieving superior resurfacing results, while offering many advantages to the patient including; reduced anesthetic requirements, shorter healing time and reduced erythema compared to a CO2 laser.

What to expect with Erbium Yag Laser treatment:

Topical anesthesia is typically used to help mitigate any discomfort and is applied to the treatment area about 45-60 minutes before beginning laser treatment.
Mild to moderate erythema (redness) up to 7 days depending on the intensity of the treatment is common.
Mild sunburn sensation that may include some discomfort may persist for up to 24-48 hours. Patients may use ice to sooth areas of discomfort.
Mild peeling and flaking of the skin will begin a few days after treatment and may last up to a week- Do not pick.
It is recommended to undergo 3 treatments approximately 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results.
